Robin and I decided years ago that we were going to live our life very intentional, very purposeful. I went through some pretty tough stuff early on in my career and it really changed the paradigm shift of my life and made me really think about things that were important. Now, I just want to ask you today, how do you win the day? What I mean by that is, are you living a life reactive or proactive?

Let me tell you this and I'm going to be honest with you. I've talked to a number of people that are not that great as a dad and they're not that great as a husband.
I've made plenty of mistakes over the course of being a father and being a husband but you can't do that long term because what happens is you deteriorate the relationship with your children. Later on they're going to see this pattern and then the other thing that they're going to start feeling is they're under-appreciated, they're not important.
I just want to encourage you that if you don't make some radical changes it's not going to end well for you.
Let me ask you now, are you becoming the leader or father that is worth following?

We now live in a society today that is absolutely taken over with fear and insecurity. I want to talk to you about that just for a second. Listen, fear's not necessarily a bad thing. It was created to help protect us to some degree, now we shouldn't crawl underneath our desk in a fetal position and be afraid all the time. There's a certain level of fear that's healthy!
Through the course of my career for 42 years, there's been an element of fear and insecurity - depending on the circumstances and the situations that you're placed in but one of the things that I have found that has increased my fear and insecurity is my willingness to go it alone, to be independent.
The truth is we all need each other! That's where the success happens, is when we get involved in interdependence. We can take our lives and our business to the next level!

It is important prioritizing our priorities. One of the things that I want to talk to you about is making sure that what you say aligns with what you do.
Guys say the things that are important to them, they start talking about how my family's the most yet they spend very little time with them. It's like they'll spend 12 14 hours a day at work and then they come home and they're too tired to do anything and they don't have meaningful conversations with their spouse. They can't play baseball with Billy because it's probably dark outside but now and they got to send one more email or get this other thing. I'm not I'm not dogging on you. I'm not saying that those things are not important and you shouldn't do those things but the truth is, if you say it's important then we need to allocate some time towards making sure that you have time to pitch the ball with Billy or go to Susie's recital or spend time with your wife out on the patio talking about things in your life that you really want and the things that you want to accomplish.
