It is important prioritizing our priorities. One of the things that I want to talk to you about is making sure that what you say aligns with what you do.
Guys say the things that are important to them, they start talking about how my family's the most yet they spend very little time with them. It's like they'll spend 12 14 hours a day at work and then they come home and they're too tired to do anything and they don't have meaningful conversations with their spouse. They can't play baseball with Billy because it's probably dark outside but now and they got to send one more email or get this other thing. I'm not I'm not dogging on you. I'm not saying that those things are not important and you shouldn't do those things but the truth is, if you say it's important then we need to allocate some time towards making sure that you have time to pitch the ball with Billy or go to Susie's recital or spend time with your wife out on the patio talking about things in your life that you really want and the things that you want to accomplish.

20 years ago when my friend, Bob Warren, started mentoring me and coaching me he taught me to listen better. I want to tell you it is difficult! We would go to restaurants and we would talk. I'd be looking around the room to see who was in there, who was coming in and he would say, “listen, you got to focus, you've got to make eye contact with the person you're talking to and not be thinking about what you're going to say next. You need to pay attention to what they're saying because people only remember how you make them feel and you make them feel unimportant when you don't pay attention to what they're saying.
I'm going to tell you, I'll just be very honest and transparent with you that was difficult for me. For a long long time, it was like every time you were talking I was thinking man I got something to say. I can match that i can one-up! I can't wait till they take a breath so I can interject! I want to tell you it takes a lot of discipline and a lot of wherewithal in order to withhold the things that you want to say! Listen, what they say is important!

Quite honestly, right now in the times that we're in it's pretty easy to get yourself in a funk.
Well, the first thing I do, listen, you're gonna love this the very first thing I do is I sulk for about 24 hours completely on my own. Then the next thing I do is I call my trusted advisors. People that have been around me for like three and four decades.
So when you're in a funk try the things that I do. Don't recluse. You know you can do it for a few hours. Maybe just to make yourself feel better and then go share it with trusted advisors. Talk about it to people that you trust
I just want to encourage you that life's got to go on and we've got to pick ourselves up and we've got to get in a different mindset we've got to push ourselves through these difficult days.

Do not keep your self busy with work and exchange time with your family with money. Create experience and memories with your family, with your kids. Spend money or time to create experience and memories. Have a little less house. Have a little less car.
