Let me just be honest with you - there are no shortcuts!  Sure, we can work smarter, no question about it!  We can do things in a better way but there are no shortcuts to long-term success!

Are You A Value-driven Leader?

Posted by Aaron Walker on Oct 13, 2021 9:00:00 AM

If you think you're a value-driven leader, well, I want to ask you this. Do you think that you are an economic product on the open market? My answer to that is - I don't see myself at all as a product out on the open market. But really, when you think about it, the truth is we all are!

Now, I want to know, are you obsessed with getting people a strong return on the investment that they've made in you or in your service? When you think about that, that's the way that we grow our businesses! We grow our businesses when we become totally obsessed with offering great products or great services.

How Can I Be Better To My Wife and Children?

Posted by Aaron Walker on Oct 11, 2021 9:00:00 AM

Let me tell you this and I'm going to be honest with you. I've talked to a number of people that are not that great as a dad and they're not that great as a husband.

I've made plenty of mistakes over the course of being a father and being a husband but you can't do that long term because what happens is you deteriorate the relationship with your children. Later on they're going to see this pattern and then the other thing that they're going to start feeling is they're under-appreciated, they're not important.

I just want to encourage you that if you don't make some radical changes it's not going to end well for you.

Let me ask you now, are you becoming the leader or father that is worth following?

Commit To Constant And Never Ending Improvement

Posted by Aaron Walker on Oct 6, 2021 9:00:00 AM

Allow me to talk to you about committing to a constant and never-ending improvement. When I start thinking about my life, I start thinking about the businesses that we own and some of the things that we've done - it's been kind of 42 years of a constant state of improvement! Trying to move. It's always trying to do better.

One of the things we can do is to ask ourselves tough questions and then you know we've really got to do better as we go forward. I remember a quote that Oliver Cromwell said back, this is you know forever ago, back in the 1600s and he said, “He who stops being better stops being good”. I don't know about you but I don't want to stop being better. I want to be good all the time. I always want to be kind of making some progress, improve in small incremental ways.

I was thinking yesterday in a meeting that I was in some of the things that we've done in our business that has helped us immensely but I got to tell you straight out of the gate, I got to give the credit where the credit is due - John Lee Dumas taught me something he doesn't even know that he taught me this but years ago!
