I want to talk to you about one of the reasons that you're struggling in your present occupation today....it's the lack of clarity. Let me tell you what I'm talking about on that. I think many people tie their identity up into what they do, right? We can't do that! We can't tie our identity up into our occupation! For me, I'm a Christ-follower, so my identity is tied up in Jesus Christ. That's first and foremost. What's most important in my life so that's where my identity has got to be tied. Many people are trying to get purpose out of their occupation rather than what they can do with those resources. You can take those resources and do other things to give you that sense of purpose and meaning.

I took a few days off, we went to Chattanooga and kind of hung out. This guy asked me, “what do you do professionally?” I looked at him and I thought for a minute. I thought you know, I'm going to tell this guy what I do and he's not going to have a clue, he's not going to understand it.
Allow me to explain the reason I'm so passionate about what I do. 10 years ago I was going to retire. I was going to hang it up and I was going to call it good and then a couple of my buddies encouraged me to start coaching - which I did. I fell in love with it! I started doing podcast interviews, kind of telling a little bit more about my story and people started coming asking me to coach them, teach them how to live a successful and a significant life.

Here’s something that I think is really important, not just in fishing, but in everyday life.
Mindset is everything. It doesn't matter what we're doing. Whether it's fishing or hunting or playing golf or working…or with our wife or with our children.
Mindset I think is a real important piece. Go ahead and watch the video to learn more about that I am talking about.
