Do you even want to be better?

Posted by Aaron Walker on Jan 5, 2019 9:00:00 AM

What I want to talk to you today is about the enthusiasm to get better. But I'd like to ask these to you, do you even want to be better?

Would you rather be comfortable with what you have and stay in mediocrity? In order for us to become better, we got a community around you. We got to be around people who will sharpen us, push us to be better, call us out for our blind spots, etc. The only way, I mean the ONLY way we are gonna be all God call us to be is to live in community.

Save changesWhy I don’t do annual goals

Posted by Aaron Walker on Jan 3, 2019 9:53:02 AM

This is probably going to be my last post for 2018. I've been talking to a lot of the guys in the mastermind group and they're asking, "Big A, what are your goals for 2019?". I don't set goals annually and I stopped doing that about three years ago when I became familiar with Brian Moran's 12-week year. Not just going to be honest with you, year after year for the past 40 years of my career, I've established annual goals and they lasted about two or three months and then I set them aside did something else. I don't know that I personally have the stamina and the bandwidth to look at an annual goal. Brian Moran's plan has really increased our productivity in so many ways I sound like I'm making money off of his program! I wished I did! I've probably sold more of his books than he has but the truth is is that it works!

Take a second and give yourself a check up

Posted by Aaron Walker on Jan 1, 2019 8:00:00 AM

Hey, there's a few good men out there. I want to tell you a reason I'm saying that. My family gets onto me a lot of times, they'll say, "Man you hammer these guys you're always saying what they don't do. You need to reach out sometimes and say the good things that they do." And it made me feel about that tall. I said, "Man, you're right you know." I do these guys pretty hot and heavy sometimes but I want to tell you something we've got some of the most outstanding men on the planet in Iron Sharpens Iron Mastermind Group. Now I got to confess a couple of things to you though in regards to telling you how happy I am and excited about the good job that they do. I planned an event coming up pretty soon and there was a number of guys that I invited to this event and one of the guys that I knew were going to be there. I mean it was no question he needed to be there and I needed him to be there. He turned me down bigger than Dallas! He's like, "I can't make it." And I'm like, "Well what is the deal? Where are you gonna be?" And he said, "Well my 17 year old daughter graduates from high school this year. She's gonna be going off to college and she's got an event at school and parents are asked to be there. And I don't want to miss it." And I'm like, "Are you kidding me? I mean this is a big deal event!" And he's like, "Hey, let me tell you something. This is a big deal. This is my daughter." And then I started thinking about I said. You know, he's doing exactly what I've been teaching all these years. He's excited me after I got mad! It excited me to think that he would stand up and honor his daughter more so than a business transaction!
