Do You Really Get The Big Picture?

Big_Picture

Eastern Airline Flight #401 crashed on December 29, 1972. The problem was the landing gear green light failed to activate in spite of a locked in place landing gear. Focusing on the light instead of the altimeter the pilots and 100 passengers crashed to their deaths.

What "green light", or other insignificant matters are you focusing on that is going to crash your plane?

I have seen countless times that minor difficulties often get huge blocks of our time that produce no benefits.

I encourage entrepreneurs everyday to get feedback from others on their existing or future businesses and more often than not this step is bypassed.

We get so caught up in working in our businesses rather than on our business that we often overlook clear indicators of an ensuing crash.

I periodically take time to step outside of myself (figuratively) to evaluate the possible dangers. I ask the tough questions about where my liability is the greatest and implement safeguards as a result of my findings.

8 Tips to seeing the big picture:

1) Get over your pride and ask a lot of questions.

2) Ask 5 trusted advisers their opinion.

3) Answer this question, "What am I lying to myself about"?

4) Would I engage in this service or buy this product?

5) Is there value in my offer to the consumer?

6) Am I an inch deep and a mile wide?

7) Will I always have to trade time for money?

8) If you can't see the forest for the trees, you're not high enough!

Are you looking at the big picture of your business? Are you possibly neglecting warning signs that could devastate your business or worse yet, you personally?

Take a couple hours this week to dive in areas you have been avoiding to see if maintenance is required.

Be careful, your landing gear is down and your green light is not on!
