This week in our country we celebrate our independence. The reality is we celebrate our freedom from the control that we were under. Of course this freedom came with pain, this freedom came with sacrifice, this freedom came with actions.
Freedom by its definition is “the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.” This definition and understanding of freedom implies the knowledge that we are being restricted. It acknowledges that we know there is something that is being withheld from us.
In your life today where are you lacking freedom? Where are you restricted and powerless? What part of your life, relationships, work, or spiritual understanding has been restricted? These of course are the first questions we need to ask. The second question is whom or what is placing these restrictions? Because we live in a free country, because we live in a society that allows us to do and act in a manner that we choose, it’s important to ask who is restricting us?
So when you look at your life, where are you lacking freedom? Once we understand where we are being restricted and where our power has been stripped, we can then begin moving towards changing, fixing and repairing that loss. Which essentially yields our ability to create and gain freedom.
Are you placing your key to freedom/happiness in someone else’s hands?
It’s time to take control and spend time sacrificing for what we desire our life to be. At times this may mean major sacrifices. This may mean that we need to work late, get up early, put in the extra time and push through even when we don’t want to. We cannot live the life we were designed to live without putting in the work. Our national freedom is not free, but neither is our personal freedom. We have to make sacrifices. What sacrifices do you need to make?
