Isolation at any age is bad. I’ll have to admit but when I was a young man in my earlier twenties it was horrifying. I remember having to make adult decisions with very little guidance.
Who do I marry? Where do I go to school? Am I qualified to start my own business or do I need to further my education? Do I live with my parents and save money or do I rent an apartment? Do I lease a new car or pay cash for an old clunker? Decision after decision was before me and I was not certain of any right move.
After trudging through years of trial and error I was introduced to the Mastermind concept. I was like, what is that? It’s where you meet with peers, colleagues, mentors, and entrepreneurs of like mind with specific goals in mind to accomplish. This is the 21st year that I have been in a mastermind weekly and it has revolutionized my personal and professional life.

October 2019, I asked Robin, my wife of 40 years, to attend the live event we were hosting for the Iron Sharpens Iron Mastermind for Men. The funny part is I had invited her eight previous times to attend, and she always said, “No, this is for the men, and I feel as though it would be awkward.” Every single time I pushed back and insisted, but she would not go. When I asked her last October, she accepted. I was so happy that she would finally get to experience a live event in person. On Saturday night, we had the awards banquet, which was off the chart amazing. Men from all over the world were overcome with gratitude and emotion as they stood there to receive their recognition.
